A summary of what I did for surgeon.
These pieces of my medical illustrations are drawn for a colorectal cancer surgery guide book written by Yao Li, head of the endoscope center at China Japan Friendship Hospital. The slide below are my sketches and storyboard of these illustration.
Collaborating with people from other field and do interdisciplinary stuff is not easy! At first, we figure out each step of his operation and merge them into several scenes. After that, I drawn the storyboard of each scene and each step of his operation, and we got together to check out if there should add in or take out any picture. Then I began to use color pencil to draw the sketch on paper. When each sketch finished, we met together to check out if the vessels and nerves were on the right place, and if the instruments are do the right way. At last, I scan them into computer and finished the illustration on Photoshop.

During April to June, 2012, at the weekends, I have taught drawing and medical illustration courses at China Japan Friendship hospital for free. They are all of my friends. They told me the knowledge about medical field and I told them how to drawing. They are very talent, not only at the operation, but also for the art! They all have prerequisite knowledge about the human body and the surgery, so the medical illustration is more easy to them. After two month's course, all guys could draw a perfect picture about the operation. This benefited them a lot! Now I just paste some picture on this website, but I'll attached more video of this class later!
Why I did medical illustration?
Today one of my classmates ask me this question. "Why I did medical illustration?" I think this photo is the reason.
This photo is about one of our patient who got colorectal cancer. He just have 23. One year younger than me. Yao li did a operation for him, but.... it's too late.... Both me and Yao Li felt sad about that. I really hope every patient could be fine. So, I'll draw more medical illustration for surgeon if I have any spare time in the future.
